Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Unboxing, specs and first impressions.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 was unveiled early this year but started selling on Jumia last week for KSh 22,999. According to Xiaomi, the Redmi Note 5 devices have sold five million units in the four months following the global launch which I find quite impressive.

So impressive has the device’s performance in the market that Xiaomi, according to some reports has so far failed to keep up with demand, leading to serious availability issues in various markets. Luckily for us, as I mentioned you can get the device on Jumia.

We have the device with us and in this article, I am going to unbox it and basically share with you the specs and some of the other features you should expect should you decide to purchase the device. I will have the full review later on so subscribe to my blog to ensure you don’t miss out on anything.

Unboxing

The Redmi Note 5 comes in a bright red packaging, similar to what we have seen with all the other members of the Redmi Family.

Once you open the box you have the Redmi Note 5 itself.

Opening the box further you get the usual accessories; a USB charger head, USB cable, a silicone case and some user manual. Unfortunately, we don’t have the earphones as part of the package meaning you might have to buy them separately. Don’t act surprised, this is usual with Xiaomi.

Well, that’s all you in the box.

First Impressions.

The Redmi Note 5 is a 5.99-inch full HD+ device with an 18.9 screen aspect ratio and an aluminum unibody. As I have said in previews reviews I have done here, the 18.9 screen ratio is a trend we will continue seeing this year as every smartphone manufacturer is now adopting it.

At the top of the display, you have the 13MP front camera with LED flash as well as the speaker.

At the bottom sits the 3.5mm jack, speaker grill, and the micro USB port. How I wish Xiaomi used a Type-C connector on the Redmi Note 5.

At the top, you have the Infrared blaster (IR Blaster) and the mic.

The back features the dual camera stacked vertically on the upper left side of the phone. The fingerprint scanner is also placed at the center.

The power and volume control buttons are all on the right side while the Dual SIM slot is on the left side.

Well, as I mentioned I have a full review coming up so keep it here for more details but as indicated in the specs at the beginning of this article, inside the Redmi Note 5 is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 636 processor paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.
