Wiko K-Kool Full Review

The Wiko K-Kool is one of the latest smartphone from Wiko Mobile to hit the market. Since entering into the Kenyan market, the French market manufacturer has already established itself as a good brand thanks the budget friendly devices they have been unveiling in the market. This new device, the K-kool adopts a cool design, continuing with Wiko’s spectacular way of designing their phones.

The Wiko K-kool comes with a good looking metallic design.  For anyone looking for good looking smartphone the K-Kool real has this. The design combined with the modest 5.0 inch display with a 480 x 854 pixels resolution makes the phone quite appealing.

Something about the weight though, the K-Kool 174 g with the battery inside, this makes the phone quite heavy. This is the first thing I noticed when I unboxed the device and put the battery to test it. Generally, Wiko really did a good job when it comes to the K-Kool design.

Camera

Most of the questions I have always received from TechTrendsKE readers about devices have mostly been about the camera. Mobile photography has taken over and with smartphones, most people have been able to capture memorable moments to share with their friends and families. Of course they do this with the best camera phone, but does the Wiko K-Kool really offer this?

The front camera is 2MP and one would argue there is nothing much you can do with a 2MP camera, well, not with the Wiko K-Kool. The front camera produces some clear images .  The 5MP back camera on the other hand is a real shooter producing clear and decent images.  Below are some of the images I took with the phone just before posting this review.

Hardware and performance

Wiko K-Kool runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow on a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor. The 1GB the phone offers is not bad although it might feel sluggish when performing heavy tasks. The phone also comes with an internal memory of 8GB expandable to 64GB with a Micro SD, again this is not bad. It should be enough space for storing your files. The smartphone also features fast download speed boasting up to 21Mbps.

In terms of SIM support, the Wiko K-Kool only offers one SIM slot for mini SIM, good idea? Maybe yes, maybe no. Most smartphones however currently offer support dual sim and maybe this is something Wiko should have considered.

Battery

This is the part most people like me look out for in a phone, the battery. The Wiko K-Kool comes with a removable 2000 mAh Li-ion battery. Good enough? Not really maybe Wiko should have considered doing slight improvement on it, maybe make it 3000mAH. But again, the Wiko K-Kool 2000 mAh is not a disappointment, I was able to go 5 good hours after full charge.

Availability, Price and Verdict

There are things I feel Wiko should have really improved on like the camera and and the weight. Most Kenyan consumers prefer phones with good camera and Wiko could have done better with the K-Kool.

The device isl is available for Ksh. 8,000 and it could be a good option for people who are upgrading to a new smartphone for the first time.

Have any questions? Feel free to ask and we will pass them to our friends at Wiko Mobile
