Guys, WhatsApp is bringing back the text Status after replacing it with a Snapchat Story clone

Last month, WhatsApp made some update which caused some user backlash. The company replaced the ability for users to set a text-based in-app status with a Snapchat Stories clone and most users did not just like it.

Well, After the backlash from users, it looks like WhatsApp has decided to revive the text status option while at the same time keeping its image-based replacement.

According to a report by TechCrunch, the About Status feature will roll out to all Android users over the next week and coming soon to iPhone. To set a text Status, users can open the About section on their profile. They can as well view other people’s status by opening their contact when starting a new chat thread or looking at group chat info.

“We heard from our users that people missed the ability to set a persistent text-only update in their profile, so we’ve integrated this feature into the ‘About’ section in profile settings. Now, the update will appear next to profile names anytime you view contacts, such as when creating a new chat or looking at Group info. At the same time, we’re continuing to build on the new Status feature that gives people fun and engaging ways to share photos, videos and GIFs with their friends and family throughout their day.” WhatsApp told TechCrunch.

The move by WhatsApp shows how social apps must quickly respond to feedback users in case they decide to make changes or any updates to their apps. They should also pick a lesson or two on sticking to things their users like about their apps instead copying what their competitors are doing.
