Twitter will now allows users to share 140-second videos

You will agree with me that video is becoming increasingly central to the real-time conversations happening online. There are so many places on your phone to watch these videos – YouTube, Facebook and many other platforms. Well, Twitter has now joined this group.

The company is rolling out some changes that will now allow users to watch and even create more video content. According to the company video Tweets on Twitter have increased by over 50% since the beginning of 2016

Starting today, the company says users will post videos that are up to 140 seconds long, an increase from its previous 30-second limit. ‘’Starting today, you’ll have more room to unleash your creativity on Twitter.’’ the company said in a blog post.

With 310 million monthly active users currently the move is seen to be part of the social media company’s efforts to make its users embrace video content. It comes at a time when online videos are becoming increasingly widespread especially among other social media platforms like Facebook and snapchat.

The company also says videos will also be longer on Twitter’s video-sharing social network vine. It is starting with a “small group” of Vine creators who will “be able to add a video to their Vine, turning the six second Vine into a trailer for a bigger story.”

Twitter also launched a new platform that will allow celebrities connect a way to connect  directly with their fans.  Known as Twitter Engage, the company says they new app will help popular video creators better understand, engage, and grow their audiences on-the-go with real-time data and insights.
