TECNO Mobile is teasing the TECNO SPARK 2, set to be launched soon.

TECNO Mobile first introduced its SPARK Series of smartphones in August 2017 targeted for the mid-range smartphone market. The series, according to TECNO was meant for price-conscious consumers who would want to spend more than Ksh.10,000 on a smartphone.

During the launch, TECNO unveiled the Spark, the Spark Plus, then came the K7 and the K9. And now it looks like we might just be staring at yet another SPARK smartphone.

The company has sent out teasers of what it is calling the TECNO SPARK 2 set to be unveiled soon. If the images shared by the company are anything to go by, then the SPARK 2 could be a gamechanger. Remember the SPARK (K7) and SPARK Plus (K9) were the most sold devices from TECNO in the country in 2017.

Little is being said about the specs but we should definitely expect some serious upgrade from previous devices in the SPARK series.

What do we know so far?

As we mentioned, little is being said about the TECNO SPARK 2 specs, although the leaks suggest it could feature a 6.0-inch display with an 18.9 aspect ratio. Should this really surprise us? Not really, this display has been described one of the biggest things to watch out this year, with almost every manufacturer on board with the new format.  And what this means is that those who want to stick with the older screen format will have fewer choices. It looks like TECNO does not want to be left behind on this.

Other leaks also suggest the TECNO SPARK 2 will come with Android Oreo out of the box with TECNO’s own HiOS. We should also expect to see two variants of 1GB and 2GB of the device and 16 GB of internal storage which can be expanded to 32GB via a microSD card.

TECNO also says the TECNO SPARK 2 will come with some decent cameras. So you might be getting a 13MP rear camera with Autofocus and triple LED while the selfie camera will have an 8MP shooter with dual flash.

For the battery, we could either be looking at 4000mAh or 3500mAh. Other features to look out for include a fingerprint scanner and Face Unlock. We’re also not sure if the TECNO SPARK 2 will support 4G but it’s definitely something we will be looking forward to finding out ahead of the launch.

We will be sharing more details about the device in the coming weeks including pricing and when it will officially be available in the country.
