Safaricom, Kwesé iflix partner to bring World Cup streaming to smartphone users in Kenya

The FIFA World Cup 2018 start in six days. If you are football fanatic like me then you’re definitely looking forward to watching your favorite team play and winning in Russia.  You have so many options to watch the entire World Cup action including streaming or watching it on your local tv channel.

Safaricom, however, wants to make it easier for you to stream all the matches. The company has partnered with ECONET owned Kwesé tv to launch new data bundles that will enable customers to stream all the World Cup matches on their smartphones.

Dubbed  Giga Football Passes, customers who purchase these bundles can stream any of the 64 matches of the  2018 FIFA World Cup live on Kwesé iflix at KES 99 for 24 hours, inclusive of all data charges.

Customer will also have the option to stream any of the matches on their TVs through the Kwesé iflix app on the Safaricom BigBox and Digital Box.

How to Purchase Giga Football Passes

Safaricom says the Giga Football Passes will be available from June 14th, which is actually the same day the World Cup football action will be starting. To access the service, customers will need to dial *544# on mobile and *400# for the Digital Box users.

The live stream of the World Cup games will be through the iflix app which can be found on the Google Play Store for smartphone users and on the same store for Safaricom Big Box users.

Safaricom’s 4G+, 4G, and 3G broadband network now reaches 86 percent of the Kenyan population and was recently rated Kenya’s fastest by Speedtest by Ookla.  Safaricom is banking on this to deliver quality live stream to its customer across the country.

Remember, as we said, the Football Giga Passes will be available from June 14th.
