OPPO is launching the OPPO F5 in Kenya on November 20th

OPPO Kenya has announced that it will be launching the new OPPO F5 smartphone in Kenya on 20th November.

The device has already been launched in other markets like India and the Philippines with the key features being AI-powered beautification features, a  20-megapixel front camera, and the 18:9 ‘Full Screen’ display.

‘’The Selfie Expert and Leader will feature the groundbreaking AI Beauty technology – which uses artificial intelligence from a massive global photo database to beautify a selfie shot. This will be the first time, the AI technology has been integrated into selfies by a camera phone brand in Kenya.’ The company said in a statement.

OPPO will be marketing it as a ‘’Selfie Expert and leader’, similar to what they did with its predecessor the OPPO F3.

So what other features should we expect on the OPPO F5? Well, a few features remained unchanged from what we saw on the F3 but the dual-SIM (Nano) smartphone runs ColorOS 3.2 based on Android 7.1 Nougat. It is also powered by a MediaTek MT6763T octa-core SoC coupled with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM.

In terms of display, the OPPO F5 has a 6-inch full-HD+ (1080×2160 pixels) LTPS ‘Full Screen’ display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The front camera as we mentioned is 20-megapixel with an f/2.0 aperture while the back camera is 16-megapixel with dual-LED flash and an f/1.8 aperture.

It is backed by a 3,200mAh battery and for those expecting fast charging technology in the new F5 you are in for a disappointment.

OPPO does not mention the pricing in their statement but remember the OPPO F3 selling price was around Ksh 33,000. This means the F5 might also be within the same range.

We will keep sharing more details about the device as we get them. In the meantime, all we can is wait until November 20th for the launch.
