HMD Global launches the Nokia 2 for $115, here are the specs

HMD Global, the home of Nokia has announced the launch of the Nokia 2. The low-cost smartphone was unveiled on Tuesday and according to Nokia, promises a two-days of battery life on a single charge.

Well, the Nokia 2 is the cheapest Nokia phone running on Android. It actually costs about $115, that’s around Kshs.11,500. What this basically means is that Nokia also wants to tap into the ultra-cheap smartphone segment and increase its global market share. This is something we will definitely be following when the device is finally unveiled in Kenya.

“Nokia has always been a people’s brand, and with the new avatar of Nokia mobiles we are looking to continue to be a people’s brand and to bring our full range of portfolio of smart as well as feature phones to the consumers out there,’’  said Pranav Shroff, Director (Product and Portfolio), Nokia.

Remember the company has already launched the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6, Nokia 3310 launched and they just last month they also unveiled the Nokia 8 and if you ask me, they are pretty good devices.

So at Kshs.11,500, what does the Nokia 2 has to offer? Well, with that price range you would expect much, but again Nokia does not want to compromise. Check the specs below.

Nokia 2 Specifications

The highlight of the Nokia 2 is the huge 4100mAh battery, that HMD says as we mentioned earlier will deliver a two-day battery life.

The phone runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat, and sports a 5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) LTPS In-Cell Touch display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. In terms of storage, the Nokia 2 comes with 8GB of inbuilt storage, which is expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB). Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS/ A-GPS, FM radio with RDS, Micro-USB, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Not sure when the device will be coming to Kenya, but hopefully soon. We will be following up to keep you updated when it finally does.
