Microsoft introduces the Nokia 216 and Nokia 216 feature phones in Kenya


Microsoft has today introduced two new devices, Nokia 216 and Nokia 216 Dual SIM into the Kenyan market. The two phones feature two cameras with LED flash and will be available in the market in November 2016.

Available in black, grey, and blue, the Nokia 216 and Nokia 216 Dual SIM have a beautifully crafted polycarbonate shell that is built to last. Microsoft says the devices outstanding battery life will also  keep users connected for longer

“Microsoft’s feature phones are a range of trusted mobile devices that empower people with mobility and the ability to connect, discover and achieve more. They are long lasting, functional, and beautifully designed – and give you more for less. Nokia 216 and Nokia 216 Dual SIM are our newest addition to the Microsoft feature phone family that offer the affordable connectivity features people need, combined with the entertainment features they want.” Joseph Umunakwe, Microsoft Mobile Devices Leader – West and East Africa said.

Other features include a 2.4’’ QVGA (240*320) display, up to 32GB microSD card supported and a 1020 mAh Battery. It offers the ability to store up to 2,000 contacts and ships with the Opera Mini Browser allowing users to download apps and games through the Opera Mobile Store.

The launch of these two new devices come just after Microsoft announced plans to sell its feature phone business to FIH Mobile, a subsidiary of Foxconn, for $350 million earlier this year. The transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2016, subject to regulatory approvals and other closing conditions. Until then, Microsoft says it will continue to run the feature phone business.
