Jumia to deliver fresh farm produce within four hours in Nairobi

E-commerce platform Jumia has partnered with various fresh produce suppliers in Nairobi to launch an online grocery store on its website.

Dubbed ‘Jumia Fresh’ the new category announced yesterday will see customers shop for fresh vegetables, fruits and meat from Jumia and expect a delivery of up to four hours.

“This is our way of bringing Mama mboga closer to you by allowing you to shop at the best prices and at your convenience either from home or office”, said Jumia MD Sam Chappatte, adding that customers will get free delivery for Jumia Fresh orders above Kes 500.

This is the first time the online retailer will be selling perishables in line with the company’s mission to increase assortment and give customers the convenience to shop online for everyday essentials.

Last month, Jumia announced a reduction in delivery fee to Kes 100 down from Kes 250 for customers within Nairobi. The move was aimed at making it more cost-effective for the customers to buy everyday essentials from the platform and enhance customer experience while shopping online.

“We hope by reducing the delivery fee to Kes 100, our customers can now buy their everyday essentials and other small items without extra strain on their budget whilst saving more with Jumia,” said Jumia MD Sam Chappatte.
