Infinix NOTE 4 Pro Review: Xpen, Larger Battery and everything you need to know.

Introduction

So I have been interacting with the Infinix NOTE 4 Pro for some time now and I must admit it’s probably one of the best devices from the company that I have ever used. We have told you so much about the specs and even did an unboxing article for you here. In case you missed it you can read it below.

From the Xpen, the RAM, the bigger battery, and the metallic body, the Infinix NOTE 4 Pro stands out in the Infinix NOTE series.

The Infinix NOTE 4 Pro as we have already mentioned is a premium variant of the Infinix NOTE 4 and features a number of amazing specifications. The highlight of this phone is the stylus Xpen, it’s actually the first ever device from Infinix to feature the Xpen.

Design and Display

It’s important to note that the Infinix NOTE 4 Pro is the same size like the standard NOTE 4. It has the same 5.7-inch screen with Full HD resolution. Above it, you have the receiver, an 8MP front camera, and sensor. But unlike the NOTE 4, the Pro is fully metallic which makes it look and feel premium. The device is solid, cool to the touch and easy to grip thanks to the curved edges.

At the bottom, you have the physical home button that doubles as a fingerprint scanner. Again this is just what we saw on the NOTE 4. On the left and right keys are capacitive navigation keys. The volume rocker and the power/lock button are on the right.

The left side has the card tray either for SIM or MicroSD. It’s also here that you have the pogo pins for the phone’s smart cover. At the top is the headset jack while down below their is the main microphone, the microUSB port, and the loudspeaker.

At the back of the phone, we have the 13MP main camera with LED flash. The antenna bands are also visible at the top and bottom.

Software and Performance

The Infinix NOTE 4 Pro is a really powerful device, why do I say this? First, you get an Octa-Core 1.3 GHZ CPU coupled with some 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory. This is quite a powerful setup. The device together with the Infinix NOTE is the first smartphone to be pre-packed with Android 7.0 OS topped up with the Infinix UI XOS 2.3. We have already told you so much about XOS in all our previous Infinix reviews so I won’t go much into that but expect to enjoy quite a good user experience.

Generally, the performance is good, tasks are handled efficiently. No cases of lags so expect a smooth smartphone experience when switching through between apps. This is quite an improvement from the NOTE 4 for obvious reasons

The Xpen

The Stylus is a pretty nice form of technology, it’s not just a thin stick that is used to show off but it’s actually a very useful tool. From solving a big screen problem, saving the screen from scratches, the stylus pen does it all. Infinix decided to challenge other big brands in the market by adding the Xpen on the Infinix NOTE 4 Pro.

The stylus ‘Xpen’ offers great functionality for Infinix Note users as it allows them to take down notes, create shortcuts, and also sketch easily on the Xnote using the Xpen. Below are screenshots of some drawings I tried coming up with with the Xpen.

The Xpen is not hard to use, immediately you remove the pen from the flip cover the Xpen app pops up with some shortcuts to the Xpen note app. The shorts include memo taking among others.  You can also add more apps for easy access without having to go to the app drawer.  So if you are shopping for budget friendly stylus experience then the Infinix NOTE 4 Pro is worth checking out.

Camera

Nothing much changed on the camera from what we saw on the NOTE 4. Infinix basically carried the same camera properties on the NOTE 4 to the NOTE 4 Pro. On the front you have the 8MP camera along with an LED flash to help you get those nice selfies even in the dark. The 13MP camera on the back also has a dual-tone LED flash and both camera produce cool images. The cameras also have several shooting modes like night mode and panorama and you can also capture full HD videos.

Check some of the photos we got when we put the camera to test.

Battery

The Infinix NOTE 4 Pro adds more battery capacity than what we saw on the Infinix NOTE 4. The battery is 4500mAh and we all know the battery has always been the unique selling point for all the devices in the InfiniX NOTE series.

I loved the battery performance,  I could go the entire day without the phone battery dying even while on WIFI. The other interesting thing is that it supports fast charging. The devices’ X-Charge 4.0 provides the quickest charge with low voltage and high efficiency and is twice as fast as what we saw on the Infinix NOTE 3 thereby taking less time to fully charge the phone. Fast charge technology

Conclusion

First I would like to admit that I loved the Infinix NOTE 4 Pro. The design is good, the XOS Chameleon is incredible. The Xcharge is too fast and maybe Infinix should include it in all its future devices. The addition of an Xpen also makes the phone stand out.   The phone is however quite heavy and the smart cover makes it look so big, I couldn’t fit it in my pocket.

So as I said if you are shopping for budget friendly stylus experience then the Infinix NOTE 4 Pro is worth checking out. The device is available for Kshs. 19,499 so you can grab one on Kilimall and comes in 3 unique colours; champagne Gold, Ice Blue and Milan Black.
