Huawei launches Mate 8 in Kenya, to retail at Ksh. 69,999


Huawei Devices Kenya today launched its flagship device, the Huawei Mate 8 into the Kenyan market.

Unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2016, Huawei says the Mate 8 is a direct response to the technology shift where the PC economy continues to fade; organizations are faced with a radical change in architecture, operations and system governance.

Speaking during the launch, Dean Yu CEO, Huawei Technologies said in as much as devices are inherently difficult to secure, the Mate 8 access controls to enterprise resources are robust which a lot is more than just the user pass keys.

Measuring 157.10 x 80.60 x 7.90 (height x width x thickness), the Huawei Mate 8 is powered by 1.8GHz octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 950 processor and also comes with 3GB of RAM. The Smartphone packs 32GB of internal storage that can be expanded to 64GB with a microSD card. It terms of camera, the Huawei Mate 8 packs a 16-megapixel primary camera on the rear and a 8-megapixel front camera.

It is also powered by a 4000mAh non removable weighs just 185.00 grams.

The Mate 8 will retail at Ksh. 69,999 and according to Patrice Muchwe, Channel Sales Manager, at Huawei Devices Kenya the market for Smartphones is still huge enough to offer quality products that meet customers’ needs at competitive prices despite the stiff competition from recent and new entrants in the Kenyan market.

Huawei says it intends to launch more customer centric devices in Kenya in the coming months with a focus on high end and middle level models, open four more flagship shops in key markets across Kenya, and increase engagement with retailers and wholesalers. It says this will aid in growing its device market share from 15% to 25% by end of 2016.
