Huawei introduces new entry level Smartphones into the local market


Huawei has today announced the introduction of two entry level smartphones, Y5C and Y360, into the Kenyan market as it strives to double its current mobile market share which now stands at 10% by June 2016.

The smart phone comes with a 4.00-inch touch-screen display with a resolution of 480 pixels by 800 pixels. The device is powered by 1.2GHz quad-core and it comes with 512MB of RAM. As far as the cameras are concerned, the Huawei Y360 packs a 5-megapixel primary camera on the
rear and a 2-megapixel front shooter for selfies. It also runs on Android 4.4.4 and is powered by a 1730mAh removable battery.

Source: lelong.comThe Huawei Y5C on the other hand comes with medium-sized vibrant 4.5-inch display. It runs on 1.2 GHz Quad-core processor along with 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM. It has an 8MP rear and 2MP front camera. The Y5C comes with a 1730 mAh battery and supports dual SIM.

Making the announcement, Huawei Devices, Kenya Country Director Mark Hemaobin said the company was keen on capturing all market segments and will be looking to introducing both low end, middle and premium devices in line with the changing consumer preferences.

“Our deliberate approach is not only to offer quality and affordable entry-level devices like Huawei Y5C and Y360 but also high end ones like Mate S and Huawei P8 where we introduce the greatest innovation and provide full compatibility with the android,” He said.

The Y360 is retailing at Ksh. 5,499 and comes with free 500 MB free Safaricom data while  the Y5C is retailing at Ksh 9,899. The two devices will be retailing at Safaricom shops and other authorized retail outlets countrywide.
