Facebook to label satirical stories for you So You Don’t Think They’re Real

Facebook to label satirical stories for you So You Don’t Think They’re Real

By Nixon Kanali

In December last year, The Daily Currant a satirical magazine that publishes fake stories for humor published a story about “Kanye West declaring himself as the next Nelson Mandela. This story ended up being picked up by the local Standard Newspaper making many local readers believe it despite The Daily Currant website already having a dislaimer which reads: “Our stories are purely fictional.”

Now Facebook could just be coming up with solutions to such wrong  interpretations

The social media giant company is said to be running what it calls a “small test,” tagging posts from satire outlets like the Onion so that users understand that the content isn’t real.

MarketWatch reports that facebook is running beta tests on some users’ News Feeds, this is because they have“received feedback that people wanted a clearer way to distinguish satirical articles from others,” according to a Facebook spokeswoman who spoke to MarketWatch.

Facebook has not elaborated on the experiments, MarketWatch said.
